Pressing unicode in command mode causes insertion

Description

In command mode on OS X, press Alt-A... and å is inserted into the buffer

Jay,

Are you sure this isn't as it should be? The use of option as a key to enter specials is standard on OSX. Alternately, maybe the "Editing->General->Treat command key as meta" pref is what you want?
